NFT sales dropped 14%, but buyers increased. Weekly report: $91 million traded

In the latest statistical update, non-fungible token (NFT) sales faced a 14% decline when compared to the previous week, amounting to a total of $91.86 million in transactions over the span of seven days. Despite this dip in sales, the number of buyers increased by 38%. However, NFT transactions themselves witnessed a significant decrease of more than 30% during this week.

From Sunday, August 20, to Sunday, August 27, 2023, the journey of NFT sales unfolded, resulting in a substantial sum of $91.86 million changing hands within the week. Nonetheless, there was a notable drop in sales, reflecting a decline of 14.06% from the preceding week. Within these figures, Ethereum sales, although 13.87% lower this week, continued to dominate, contributing a significant $56.35 million to the overall total of $91.86 million. Solana secured the second position in blockchain sales, accumulating an impressive $8,592,656 over the course of the past seven days.

However, Solana sales experienced a decrease of 8.95% in comparison to the previous week’s sales. The sales hierarchy highlighted Ethereum and Solana as leaders, followed by Polygon, Mythos, Immutable X, BNB, and Bitcoin. Interestingly, Bitcoin’s standing remained consistent in seventh place for the third consecutive week, having slipped from its former second-place position. NFTs centered around BTC garnered $2,130,582 this week, but these figures were 22.05% lower than the records of the previous week. Among the top ten blockchains, Cardano and Arbitrum were the only gainers in terms of percentage growth over this week.

Shifting focus to the most prominent collections over the past seven days, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) emerged as the clear leader, amassing a total of $10.18 million in sales. Despite undergoing a tumultuous period in recent weeks, resulting in a significant drop in the collection’s floor value, BAYC NFT sales defied expectations by surging a remarkable 99% higher than the preceding week. Following closely behind BAYC were Dmarket, Sorare, Draftkings, Cross the Ages, and Mutant Ape Yacht Club, in that sequence. Notably, Cross the Ages experienced an astonishing 1,025.50% surge in sales when compared to the previous week.

Claiming the top spots in notable NFT sales this week, BAYC #7485 fetched an impressive $175,923 just 15 hours ago. A close second was an NFT titled “Crown,” which changed hands six days earlier for a substantial $168,187. The third and fourth positions were secured by two additional BAYC NFTs, while the fifth position was claimed by a Cryptopunks NFT, commanding a price of $128,371. Intriguingly, a significant majority of the top 20 NFT sales this week originated from the Cryptopunks NFT collection.
