XRP Community Abuzz: Reacting to Fresh SEC vs. Ripple Settlement Rumors

Members of the XRP community are once again on the edge of their seats as a new rumor regarding a potential settlement in the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit surfaces. The speculation comes from none other than the influential XRP community figure known as “XRP Captain,” causing a ripple effect of reactions within the XRP community.

The tweet by “XRP Captain” hints at the possibility of a settlement emerging within seven days leading up to Ripple’s Proper Party. This Proper Party, scheduled for September 29, 2023, in New York, is an event organized by Ripple to commemorate its partial victory against the SEC. If the rumor holds true, it implies that a settlement agreement may have been reached on September 22, a week before the celebratory event.

However, it’s crucial to note that no official announcement regarding a settlement has been made at this point.

XRP Community Reacts

Unsurprisingly, the XRP community responded swiftly to this tantalizing settlement rumor. One XRP enthusiast, with the username @zayatos, humorously pledged to throw a “proper party” at home if the rumor materialized.

Nevertheless, a majority of XRP community members exercised caution, dismissing the rumor as unfounded. This skepticism reflects the community’s previous experiences with similar rumors that failed to materialize.

Not a Novel Development

Throughout the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit’s duration, numerous rumors have circulated about an impending settlement. Regrettably, none of these rumors have proven accurate, leaving the legal battle ongoing.

In a recent example, prominent XRP community member JackTheRippler had suggested that Ripple would announce a full settlement with the SEC during the victory party. However, pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton debunked this rumor, asserting that no such announcement would occur at the event.

SEC & Ripple’s Ongoing Legal Maneuvers

It’s worth noting that both the SEC and Ripple have yet to comply with the court’s order to select three potential dates for a settlement conference. Instead, the SEC is concentrating on appealing the court’s ruling regarding Ripple’s programmatic sales of XRP and other distributions. On the other side, Ripple is gearing up for an upcoming trial involving two of its executives, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen.

As the XRP community remains eager for any developments in the SEC vs. Ripple case, the parties’ compliance with the court’s order and the possibility of a settlement conference in the future continue to be subjects of anticipation and scrutiny.
